The Bangladesh Mathematical Society (BMS) has launched an initiative to organize seminars across the country in honour of distinguished Bangladeshi mathematicians and to recognize their outstanding contributions to mathematics.

As part of this initiative, the first seminar was held today at the Department of Mathematics, Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET) in honour of the internationally renowned mathematician and physicist Professor Dr. Jamal Nazrul Islam. The event was organized in collaboration with the CUET Math Club, with 20 members of the Math Club of Asian University for Women among the participants.

The keynote speakers were Professor Dr. Anjan Kumar Chowdhury of the Jamal Nazrul Islam Research Centre, University of Chittagong, and Professor Dr. Md. Sarwar Alam of Jagannath University. The technical session was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam, President of the Bangladesh Mathematical Society and Professor at the University of Dhaka.

Through this initiative, BMS aims to honour the legacy of eminent mathematicians and inspire the next generation to pursue excellence in mathematical research and education.
