17th National Undergraduate Mathematics Olympiad 2026

The competition is intended for undergraduate students, preferably from STEM disciplines, of universities and colleges in the respective regions. Participants must be 23 years of age or younger at the time of the International Mathematics Competition (IMC) in July 2027. There is no minimum age limit.

ABOUT NUMO 2026

Pathway to IMC 2027

All participants of the 17th National Undergraduate Mathematics Olympiad 2026 will receive a T-shirt and a certificate. The winners will receive a crest and a certificate. In addition, the top 10 contestants in the final round will receive attractive cash prizes. The top 3 contestants from Bangladesh will have the opportunity to participate in the International Mathematics Competition (IMC) for University Students 2027. To ensure their participation, the A. F. Mujibur Rahman Foundation will provide financial support, while the Bangladesh Mathematical Society will provide overall support and coordination.

SYLLABUS

Test Format & Guidelines

The problems will cover the three broad areas: Algebra, Analysis (Real and Complex), and Geometry
and Combinatorics. The working language of the Olympiad is English.

  • Algebra: Polynomials and algebraic equations; Summation of algebraic and trigonometric series; Inequalities; Linear Algebra (Matrices and Determinants, Basis and Dual basis, Linear transformations, Eigen system, Diagonalization, Annihilators, Inner Product Spaces, Adjoints, Operators, Orthogonality, Applications); Elementary Group Theory.

  • Analysis (Real & Complex): Infinite series and sequences of numbers and functions; Convergence Analysis; Continuity and Differentiability; Mean Value and Taylor’s Theorems, Integration, and their applications; Complex Differentiation and Integration.

  • Geometry and Combinatorics: Permutations and Combinations; Primes; Arithmetic functions; Congruence; Recurrence relations; Generating functions; Polytopes and Simplicial Complexes.

Question Setting & Evaluation:

  • There will be 6-8 problems in the Regional Olympiad.
  • All questions are to be answered. The duration of each Regional Olympiad is 2 Hours, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Final Round Competition:

  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Number of Problems: 4-6
