The A F Mujibur Rahman–Bangladesh Mathematical Society National Mathematics Conference was held on 21–22 December 2018 as a biennial event jointly organized by the A F Mujibur Rahman Foundation and the Bangladesh Mathematical Society (BMS). The conference, centered on the theme “Research and Development in Mathematics for Real Life Applications,” aimed to bring together mathematicians, researchers, educators, and students from across the country. BMS, established in 1972 as the premier professional body for mathematicians in Bangladesh, continues to promote mathematics education and research through seminars, publications, and international conferences.
The conference covered a broad range of topics, including pure and applied mathematics, computational and financial mathematics, fluid dynamics, differential equations, dynamical systems, graph theory, mathematical biology, operations research, probability and stochastic processes, quantum mechanics, and mathematics education. Participants were invited to submit extended abstracts, with opportunities for full paper submission upon acceptance. Special recognition was given through Best Paper and Poster Awards, particularly encouraging student contributions.
Supported by the A F Mujibur Rahman Foundation, which has long contributed to academic excellence through scholarships, institutional support, and the promotion of mathematical activities, the conference also highlighted the legacy of Abul Faiz Mujibur Rahman. The event provided a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among faculty members, researchers, and students. With structured registration, defined deadlines, and comprehensive organizational support, the conference successfully fostered academic engagement and advancement in the mathematical sciences.
